Finding Work That You Love

Just returned from the CUPAHR Western Region Conference in Sacramento. Outstanding array of speakers and topics yet the one thing that will stay with me is the people I meet at these events. Higher education people in America are not (for the most part) attracted to or stay in their work because of the money.  Their love of being exposed to a learning environment and the personalities that is attracts is genuine.

In talking with many of my colleagues over the last few days, I kept asking myself this question:
What is it about the work that I do that really brings me joy? How can I transform my little corner of the world by being a source of inspiration and hope for others?

Tell me what it is about your work that you love?

Work You Love-My Introduction

Hello everyone! Welcome to Work You Love a blog that will (hopefully) discover finding work that makes your heart sing and unlocks creativity. Working consumes so much of our lives in America that we really should carefully consider how we are spending the time. Even if you are in a career for quite some time we know by now that may not be the case tomorrow.

So some questions for you to begin our discussion:
  1. When was the last time you had a job that you really loved?
  2. How did you know you loved your job? Was it the people? Was it your work? of Was it the physical location of your job?
  3. Have you given thought to doing something different than you do now? Why? What other types of occupations or activities attract your thoughts?
  4. What do you do outside of work hours? Are you outside of work activities your real passions? If so, could you convert those passions to work instead?
